Transformer Oil Level Gauge (also known as Magnetic Oil Gauge, MOG, or Oil Level Indicator, OLI) is a critical safety and monitoring device installed on the conservator tank of oil-immersed transformers. It monitors the insulating oil level, which fluctuates with temperature changes, providing real-time local display and remote alarm signals to prevent transformer damage due to overfilling or oil loss.

Working Principle

The gauge operates on magnetic coupling and float mechanism principles:

A float inside the conservator rises and falls with the oil level.
This movement is transferred via a lever arm to a magnetic drive system.
The magnetic force rotates the pointer on the external dial, showing the current oil level.
At pre-set MAX (high) and MIN (low) points, it triggers electrical alarm switches for remote monitoring.
